OHIP Coverage for Eye Exams
Starting from September 1, 2023, there have been some updates to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) eye exam coverage. If you have any questions about your eye exam coverage, our team is ready to answer your questions.
Here’s a simple breakdown by age to keep in mind when booking your next eye exam.
Request AppointmentThere are no changes for this age category. Kids and teens are eligible for an OHIP-covered comprehensive eye exam once every 12 months.
If you’re 20 years old or older, you’re eligible for a comprehensive eye exam once every 18 months. But, if you have one or more sight-threatening conditions like diabetes or retinal disease, you qualify for an OHIP-insured comprehensive eye exam every 12 months.
Please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions about eligible medical conditions.
If you’re 65 or older, you can get comprehensive eye exams covered every 18 months. But, if you have one or more conditions that could affect your vision, like diabetes, late-stage cataracts, or macular degeneration, you’re eligible for an OHIP-insured comprehensive eye exam every 12 months. We can help answer any questions you have about eligible medical conditions.
